autumn light
As daylight fades in the Northeast, we bundle up, walk briskly, and feel alive in the crispness of the season. We put the garden to bed, gather the fallen leaves, and take our meals indoors.
It was an honor to wander through this serene, wild-edged garden in Concord, Massachusetts, just as the season began to change. Designed by my talented cousin, architect Matt Andersen-Miller, this garden feels as if it’s always been there — rooted in the rhythm of the land, composed of native plants and stones he found on site. Every element works in harmony, augmenting and enhancing the beauty inherent in the land, inviting us to slow down, look closely, breathe deeply, and admire the quiet wonder of nature. In the hands of a skilled landscape architect, the best design doesn’t impose — it reveals.
